Explore Okavango (Moremi), Caprivi and Chobe incl. boat trips on the Okavango
Day 1 : Meet in Maun and stock up. Spend the night outside Maun enroute to Moremi. We camp in the wilderness area and this is an ideal spot to learn about your setup and how to act in the bush and we will discuss what to expect and how to act.
Day 2 : Enter Moremi through South Gate and explore Black Pools area en route to Third Bridge camp site. Blackpools is a lovely area of large pools surrounded by huge open plains. The birdlife and animal life are prolific in this area. Every day we will have a breakfast in the bush and a lunch stop when ever we get hungry.
Day 3 : Explore Third Bridge area. The area is criss crossed with tracks so there is lots to explore.
Day 4 : Drive via Dead tree island to Xakanaxa. We don’t often get to Dead Tree island but it is fun trying. The water can be deep or we just lose the tracks. Do a sundowner cruise on the Okavango
Day 5 : Drive to Khwai exiting through North Gate. Fantastic river drive along the river. This area seems to be populated by bull elephant only and nobody knows why at this time. There are all sorts of other game including lion and leopard.
Day 6: Today it’s up to Savuti through thick sand. It can be easy or difficult depending on road conditions. We have not lost anybody yet. Savuti is well known for it’s lion.
Day 7 : Explore Savuti. Another interesting area to drive around. The Savuti channel is surrounded by massive plains and then the flat Savuti marsh area and in amongst this there are solitary hills.
Day 8 : It is a long drive today to Ihaha on the banks of the Savuti river. The views at the camp site make it all worth while. This area can host up to 80 000 elephant and has big herds of buffalo as well. If you have not seen a crocodile yet you will see one here.
Day 9 : Drive to Kasane where we will camp for the night and take a sundowner cruise on the river. This is a magical boat trip and definitely not to be missed. A 3 hour river trip back into the Chobe National Park.
Day 10 : Sadly it ends today and you leave for your next destination. The road is tar all the way from Kasane to Maun or the RSA border.
This is an example trip and you can make it longer or shorter if required.
